Split Board
January 6th, 2010
A splitboard is a conventional snowboard which has been split into two skis and outfitted with special hardware to make it convertible. Why? It’s much easier to ski uphill (with skins of course) rather than snowshoeing with a snowboard strapped to your back. When you get to the top you turn it back into a snowboard for the ride down. The first step of this DIY process is cutting a perfectly good snowboard into two, as documented here.
Fall Foliage from Bald Peak Trail

Last weekend was hazy and the lighting stank for photos. This weekend was less than ideal and the leaves are probably past peak. But here’s two nice shots looking west over Pittsford, VT from the new Bald Peak Trail on Sunday am. Our house is down there somewhere.

Juniper Comes Home
July 31st, 2009
After a week of slow introductions we brought Juniper home today. She’s an American Staffordshire Terrier just like Ginger but a little smaller.
Her first owner had kicked her and broken her leg when she was little : ( Unable to pay for the surgery or to euthanize they were going to take her home a shoot her – when our vet stepped in and rescued her. She’s been living at the vet’s office for months recovering from her leg pinning procedure. Despite a rough start she’s sweet and well adjusted and so happy to finally have a real home.
